3 Books to Get You Through Spring

3 Books to Get You Through Spring Bulman Wealth

As winter ends and the rainy spring approaches, it’s natural to feel restless and bored in anticipation of summer. Although traveling to warmer places may seem like a good idea, it’s not always feasible or affordable. Therefore, people often look for other ways to escape boredom. Some people do puzzles or get into cooking. And others find solace in reading books. There are many exciting books to choose from this year, including Bret Easton Ellis’s latest work and a captivating coming-of-age novel by Allegra Goodman. Let’s explore the most highly anticipated books of the year.

New Books to Add to Your Reading List

In his latest novel, The Shards, Bret Easton Ellis (author of American Psycho) takes readers on a nostalgic journey back to the 80s. The protagonist of the story is none other than Ellis himself, a prep school senior who is writing his first novel – Less Than Zero. Along with his wealthy friends, Bret is being stalked by a serial killer known as the Trawler, resulting in scenes of violence and suspense.[1] This book may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it is definitely worth picking up on a rainy evening.

If you want some lighter and quirky content, then Kashana Cauley’s book, The Survivalists, is a good pick. Cauley is a budding comic writer who has worked for Twitter and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and her book is a testament to her skills. The story revolves around Aretha, a skilled lawyer who finds herself losing her passion as she becomes involved with her boyfriend’s survivalist roommates.[2] Despite dealing with modern-day fears, the book keeps things humorous and entertaining.

In addition, Monica Heisey’s debut novel, Really Good, Actually, is a must-read for those who enjoy a mix of comedy and drama. The story follows Maggie, a young divorcee who tries to stay positive despite her struggles. Maggie’s marriage lasted only 608 days, and her graduate work is a slow-motion trainwreck.[3] Throughout the book, we watch as Maggie attempts to convince both herself and everyone around her that she is doing “fine.”[4]
